Catering

Catering is probably the biggest chunk of your wedding budget. My advice is to go with a caterer you know who delivers the goods. Always try before you buy - all good caterers offer tasting menus.

Trends

Everyone is a foodie now. People are so much more food conscious these days. There's a move towards couples spending more per head on food but spending less overall by keeping the guest list down.

There will always be $100 per person wedding receptions.

Traditional Chinese Banquet

A sample menu may include:
  • Crab Claw
  • Suckling Pig
  • Abalone Soup*
  • Half Lobster
  • Quail
  • Steamed Fish
  • Lotus Leaf Rice
  • Dessert

* Much more sustainable than shark fin soup, a trade of which I don't support.

Sit Down 3 Course Meal

Antipasto, Pasta or Salad, Chicken or Beef, chocolate pudding or creme brulee. Old school.

Cocktails and Canapes

Spit Roast
